Here are the summaries for each of the books. WARNING: There are a ton of spoilers here.

Bella Swan is a seventeen-year-old girl who had recently moved to rainy Forks, Washington from sunny Pheonix, Arizona, to live with her dad, Charlie. She has chosen to do this so her mom, Renee, can travel with her step-father, Phil – who is a minor league baseball player.

She draws much attention on her first day at Forks High School, which she does not like, due to her shyness.

In Biology, Bella sits next to Edward Cullen. Edward is stunningly attractive, almost inhumanly beautiful, and yet he is an outsider too.  She cannot figure out why he seems repulsed by her.

After tricking a family friend, Jacob Black, into telling her an old Quileute legends about ‘the cold ones’, which says that the Cullens hunt animals and not humans, and doing a little research, Bella realizes that Edward is not human. He is a vampire. She confronts him about this, and he is stunned that she does not care what he is. Edward tells Bella that he had been avoiding her because of her scent, and his desire to kill her.

Over time, they fall in love. Edward soon discovers that he loves Bella more than he wants to hurt her, and will do whatever it takes to protect her.

One afternoon, while playing a vampire baseball game with all of the Cullens, Alice, a vampire who can see the future, senses a coven of wild vampires coming towards them. When they arrive, they introduce themselves, and say there names are Laurent, James, and Victoria. Edward, having used his ability to read minds, discovers that James is a tracker, and that he wants to hunt Bella.

The Cullen’s plan is to separate Bella and Edward, Bella going to a hotel in Pheonix with Jasper and Alice, while Rosalie, Emmet, Esme, Carlisle, and Edward would stay behind to destroy James. At the hotel, Bella gets a phone call from James, telling her that her mother is being held hostage by him in the ballet studio she used to go to. She manages to escape from Jasper and Alice in an airport, to save her mom. (The three were about to fly back to Forks. Bella knows that James would let her mom free if she let James kill herself.)

It was of course a trap. James had lured her there, so he could bite her.

New Moon

Bella is thrown an eighteenth birthday party by Alice, Edward and the rest of their vampire family. While unwrapping a gift, she gets a paper cut. Edward’s brother Jasper, although attempting a non-human diet, is overwhelmed by the scent of human blood and tries to attack Bella. In an attempt to keep her safe from the world of vampires, Edward tells Bella that he and the rest of his family are leaving the town. Edward does not tell Bella that they are leaving the town because he wants to keep her safe, so Bella thinks that he does not want her anymore. Bella becomes severely depressed and seeks comfort with Jacob, who eases her pain over losing Edward.

Bella and Jacob begin spending a lot of time together, and they fall in love. Bella soon discovers that the rush of adrenaline present when she places herself in dangerous situations stimulates hallucinations of Edward’s voice. Bella begins seeking out dangerous behavior, such as riding a motorcycle, to trigger the illusions. Meanwhile, Jacob finds out that he is a werewolf, and eventually reveals this secret to Bella. The werewolves begin to protect Bella from the pursuit of the vampire Victoria, who seeks revenge for the death of her mate, James, who was killed by the Cullens in Twilight. After Bella attempts cliff-diving, she gets caught in a riptide, barely escaping death, and is rescued by Jacob.

At the same time, Alice has a vision of Bella jumping off the cliff. Thinking Bella is dead, Alice rushes to Forks to check on Charlie, Bella’s father, while Edward calls Bella’s home. Jacob answers and informs Edward that Charlie is at a funeral, referring to that of a man in town who had died of a heart attack, but Edward thinks that he means Bella’s funeral. Desperate after Bella’s supposed death, Edward flies to Italy to see the Volturi, peace-keeping vampires. He wants to commit suicide, since he knows they would kill him, so he would not have to exist in a world without Bella.

Bella and Alice rush to Italy to stop Edward, and save him before it is too late. Before they leave Italy, the Volturi tell them that Bella, a human who knows of the existence of vampires, must either be killed or changed into a vampire herself. After they return to Forks, Edward explains to Bella that he only left in order to protect her, and she forgives him, but is still wounded.

  (Ending Included!)

The story begins with the information that Seattle is being plagued by a string of unsolved murders, which Edward thinks are being caused by a newborn vampire that is cannot control it’s thirst. Edward and Bella fill out college applications, while Bella explains to Edward her how much she wants to see Jacob, her werewolf friend. Meanwhile, Alice has a vision that Victoria is back in town. Although Edward worries greatly about her safety, Bella insists that Jacob and the rest of the werewolf pack would never harm her, and he eventually allows her to visit Jacob once in a while.

A little while later, Bella tells Edward that she wants to be immortal with him. Edward says that he would change her if she married him. Despite having an aversion to marriage, Bella realizes that spending eternity with Edward is more important to her than anything else and accepts his proposal.

Bella and the Cullens discover that the murders in Seattle are being committed by Victoria and an “army” of newborn vampires. The Cullen family joins forces with the werewolf pack in order to combat this threat. As everyone else prepares for battle, Edward and Bella camp up in the mountains, where they are later joined by Jacob and Seth Clearwater, a young member of the werewolf pack, to wait out the fight.

In the morning, Jacob overhears Edward and Bella discussing their engagement and becomes very upset. He threatens to join the fight and get himself killed because he thinks Bella doesn’t love him. To stop him, Bella kisses Jacob, when Edward is off to make sure no one is hurt in the battle. After Victoria and her army are successfully destroyed, (Victoria was killed by Edward), Bella explains to Jacob that while she loves him, her love for Edward is greater and she cannot live without Edward. Jacob, angry at Bella’s decision to become a vampire, runs away in his wolf form to escape the pain he feels.

(Sorry, we gave you the end there.)

Breaking Dawn

(This book is separated into three different parts, or “books”.  All but Book 2 are told from the perspective of Bella, with the second being told from the point of view of Jacob.)

The first book details Bella’s marriage and honeymoon with Edward, which they spend on a private island off the coast of Brazil; Isle Esme. Soon after, Bella realizes that she is pregnant. After contacting Carlisle, who confirms her belief, she and Edward plan to return home. Edward, concerned for her well being, urges her to get an abortion. However, Bella wants to keep the child and decides to contact Rosalie for support, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children.

The second book is written from Jacob’s point of view, and lasts throughout Bella’s pregnancy and childbirth. The pack of werewolves, not knowing what danger the unborn child may pose, make plans to destroy it, even though they must kill Bella to do so. Jacob disagrees strongly with this decision and revolts, leaving the pack to form his own with Seth and Leah Clearwater. The baby breaks many of her bones, and Bella loses massive amounts of blood. To feed it everyday, Bella has to drink cups of blood, due to the fact that the baby is not purely human, it is half-vampire, half-human. Bella soon gives birth, only a month after becoming pregnant. In order to save her life, Edward changes her into a vampire. Jacob, who was present for the birth, immediately “imprints” — an involuntary response in which a werewolf finds his soul mate — on Bella’s newborn daughter, Renesmee. *gasp*

The third book of Breaking Dawn shifts back to Bella’s perspective, finding her changed into a vampire and enjoying her new life and abilities. Renesmee is a beautiful baby who looks mostly like Edward, but has Bella’s human eyes. She is smarter than most adults, and could speak full sentences by the age of 3 weeks. However, the vampire Irina sees Renesmee one day when Jacob, Bella, and Renesmee were out hunting. She mistakes her for an “immortal child”, a child who has been turned into a vampire. The creation and protection of “immortal children” was previously outlawed by the Volturi. Renesmee is not an immortal child BECAUSE she is only half-vampire, and she was not turned into a vampire.

After Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, they plan to destroy Renesmee and the Cullens. Alice and Jasper leave the Cullens for unknown reasons, saying only that the Cullens need to gather as many witnesses as possible. In an attempt to save Renesmee, the Cullens gather vampires from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Upon confronting the gathered Cullen allies and witnesses, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately kill Irina for her mistake. However, they remain undecided on whether Renesmee should be viewed as a threat to the secret existence of vampires.

(No, we will absolutely not give you the ending of the series.)
